Americans for Prosperity-Alabama Applauds Significant Increase in Education Savings Account Funding
Signed Budget Nearly Doubles CHOOSE Act Funding, Standing with Students Instead of Systems
Montgomery, AL – Americans for Prosperity – Alabama (AFP-AL) applauded the Alabama State Legislature and Governor Kay Ivey for working to pass and sign the new state budget into law, which includes a nearly doubling of CHOOSE Act funding.
CHOOSE Act funding increased to $180 million in the newly signed budget, an increase of $80 million. AFP-AL has been a staunch supporter of creating the program and enthusiastically supports an increase in funding to meet the demand for personalized education pathways. The new CHOOSE Act program received over 36,000 student applications.
AFP-AL State Director, Adam Thompson, released the following statement:
“AFP-AL applauds the leadership of Chairman Arthur Orr, Chairman Danny Garrett, and Governor Kay Ivey in securing a new budget that works to meet the demand from Alabama families for more choice in their children’s education. The CHOOSE Act program is off to a tremendous start and our leaders met the challenge to scale it up to deliver for the needs of Alabama families after such a strong response.”
