Oppose Medicaid Expansion
Policymakers should continue to oppose Medicaid expansion in Alabama, including the “so called” public-private expansion. Medicaid was never designed to be a primary insurance provider for able-bodied consumers, but rather a temporary solution for individuals and families who need it. Restoring Medicaid to its original intent to serve as a safety net for the truly vulnerable and restructuring of the program to eliminate wasteful spending and protect taxpayers are important reforms. Achieving affordable and accessible health care with a patient driven focus is a priority, however there is no one solution to this crisis and Medicaid expansion would only place additional burdens on an already broken system by adding more individuals to the program at a cost to taxpayers.
