Americans for Prosperity-Alabama: Certificate of Need Laws Continue to be a Harmful Barrier in Access to Health Care
Montgomery, AL—As more news is reported on Certificate of Need (CON) laws blocking health care expansion in the state, Americans for Prosperity – Alabama (AFP-AL) is highlighting the ways in which these overreaching regulations are tarnishing the quality of care and driving up costs.
AFP-AL State Director, Adam Thompson, released the following statement:
“Too often in Alabama we are hearing about the Certificate of Need Review Board denying or holding up health care facilities, which only denies Alabamians a diverse market of options to seek the most affordable and effective medical care.
“Competition and innovation keep our health care market robust with options for the patient, not serving the business desires of investors. To stay competitive, Alabama must allow critical health care investments and expansions to thrive by fully repealing our CON regulations.”

Recently, AFP published an op-ed in Yellowhammer News addressing Alabama’s CON laws.
